Q: If you’re open to sharing, how old are you and what stage are you at in menopause?
I’m 56 and postmenopausal.

Q: What problems were you facing before starting your fasting journey?
Mostly gradual weight gain. My perimenopause symptoms were mild, but I noticed alcohol made them worse, especially the night sweats.

Q: Had you ever tried fasting before?
I’d been dabbling in it for a few years but hadn’t found a consistent rhythm.

Q: Where did you start with fasting?
I started experimenting with fasting in small ways but got serious about it over the last couple of years. In early 2023, I tried a fasting-mimicking approach that worked but was time-consuming. Q: Did you have to make major changes to your lifestyle?
Yes – but in the best way. Fasting has allowed me to enjoy more flexibility with food. Because I eat less often, I can still enjoy treats, guilt-free, after a nutritious meal. I rarely drink alcohol now – it just doesn’t align with how I want to feel.

Q: What results have you experienced?
With fasting and healthy eating, I’ve lost 7 kg since perimenopause and feel in tune with my body again. I’m more energetic, metabolically healthy, and finally free from that “food noise” that used to run my day.

Q: Did you face any challenges?
Sure, hunger comes and goes – but it gets easier as my body switches into fat-burning mode.

Q: Do you think you could have done this on your own?

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting fasting?
Start slow – shrink your eating window gradually, especially at night. Don’t overthink it. You don’t need to count calories or macros. Once you find your rhythm, your body will crave real food, not junk.
