Feeling Lighter, Energised, and Excited About Food Again: Tanya’s Fasting Journey

Tanya, 58 and postmenopausal, had fallen into a food rut. Eating the same meals she prepared for her husband left her feeling bloated, sluggish, and uninspired. She had never intentionally fasted before, but a few small insights, seeing how her dad timed his meals and discovering the benefits of fasting through Wicked Wellbeing sparked a change. What started as adjusting her first meal quickly turned into a full lifestyle shift. Four months later, Tanya has lost 9kg, rediscovered excitement in preparing food, and feels energized and confident in her fasting routine. Here's her story. 


 Q: What problems were you facing before starting your fasting journey?
I was in a food rut, eating the same meals I prepared for my husband, which left me feeling full and bloated by the end of the day. I was stuck in a repetitive routine and lacked excitement around food.

Q: Had you ever tried fasting before?
Not intentional fasting. I had no prior experience with it.

Q: Where did you start with fasting?
I began by making my first meal at lunchtime, inspired by observing my dad’s eating schedule. At first, I didn’t know this counted as fasting, but I immediately felt better at night. In April 2025, after engaging with Wicked Wellbeing and joining the Tribe, I fully committed to the lifestyle.

Q: Did you have to make major changes to your lifestyle?
The biggest change was thinking mindfully about what to eat for my first meal. I started exploring recipes I’d never made before – like sauerkraut, hummus, and kombucha (from the Tribe’s Recipe Vault). About 90% of my meals now come from the Recipe Vault. I also follow flexible fasting using the 5:1:1 principle: one breakfast fast per week, a 24-hour fast weekly, and two 36-hour fasts per month.

Q: What results have you experienced?
I’ve lost 9 kg in 4 months and feel amazing. My clothes fit better, and my weight is similar to what it was in 2016 and even in my late 20s before having children. Beyond the numbers, I’m excited to cook again, enjoy the meals I eat, and feel my absolute best at the 36-hour point of fasting.

Q: How did joining the Tribe support your fasting journey?
Joining the Tribe gave me the knowledge and confidence to know fasting was right for me. Wick shares her own successes and challenges, which makes the journey feel relatable. Access to recipes, CGM trials, guest interviews, and ongoing education has been invaluable.

Q: What parts of the membership were the most helpful?
Everything! The CGM trial, Recipe Vault, stories from other members, and guest interviews. I also still enjoy meditating daily, which is part of the lifestyle the Tribe supports (which I never thought I'd be open to, not to mention enjoy).

Q: What kept you motivated?
The desire to have great health as I age keeps me committed.

Q: Did you face any challenges?
None so far, which is why I know this lifestyle works for me. Fasting feels easy to integrate into my life.

Q: Do you think you could you have done this on your own?
Absolutely not! The Tribe’s guidance and support made it all possible.

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting fasting?
