For the First Time in My Life, I'm Caring for Myself
Jul 22, 2026
"For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm caring for myself. I had a $499 Mounjaro pen in the fridge and chose to put it away and give everything to fasting and whole foods instead.
The difference is, the medication just switched off my appetite, I could lose weight without actually nourishing my body at all. Doing it this way, I'm properly feeding myself for the first time.
I've lost 15kg, my tummy is flat and never bloated, I'm sleeping better, and the afternoon crashes are gone. I've never felt so famished that I've binged, which was my old pattern for years.
This is my own real-life evidence: you can take the drug for the rest of your life, or do the lifestyle right and nourish yourself properly instead."
I'd love you to meet Sarah M.
Q: Where were you before you started?
Much of my diet, weight and relationship with food issues seem pretty standard for a woman of my age. Cliche even. I gained weight quickly in my 30s, stayed at the same unhappy weight for many years, then added another 10kg once I hit 40 with no change to my diet. In fact eating less.
I would claim to have "tried" everything. I haven't. But I have certainly signed up for everything and purchased anything that promised to help me lose weight, most of which I didn't follow through on at all. I just wanted something to work easily, if I'm honest.
Q: What was that costing you?
I would spend anything to not hate my body. I had made myself increasingly isolated. I feared running into someone that last knew me thinner. It felt like my worth was very wrapped up in my weight, and being visibly bigger felt like I was telling people I have no self-control, I have given up on myself.
Lollies were my life. Driving to and from work, I would eat family bags of sweets, and because they never satisfied me, I kept eating. I never took lunch. Never stopped to eat.
Q: You already knew a lot about health, didn't you?
That's the strange part. Throughout those years I listened to every Dr Mindy audiobook, Stacey Sims, and I even studied health coaching. Almost zero of which I applied to myself in real life.
Q: What changed?
The same week I booked a doctor's appointment for a GLP-1 script, my dearest friend sent me a link to your Carnivore Reset. The timing landed perfectly and I committed completely.
It was confronting. My first broth was awful, and my body reacted with muscle aches, dizziness and headaches. But on the final day, something clicked. My appetite was minimal, I lost 4 to 6kg, my tummy felt flatter, and my skin had never felt so good.
Q: But you'd already bought the medication.
I had. During that same week I spent $499 on a Mounjaro pen. Because I'd paid for it, I decided to click the pen and use it. Within 24 hours I felt an almost complete absence of appetite. The kind that would make it easy to forget to eat at all.
I was very torn at that point. I'd registered with the Wicked Healthy Tribe and was into the Rebuild, but had this expensive tool sitting in the fridge. That's when I came clean to Wick about the GLP-1, and we made a plan to put the pen away and give everything to the whole food eating and fasting lifestyle.
Q: What's the difference you've noticed between the two?
The medication gave me GI side effects, and appetite reduction that could easily have led me to not eat, enjoy the weight loss that comes from that, but not nourish my body at all well.
My naturally controlled appetite feels healthy enough to send me the message that it's time to break a fast, gently and with a loving intention to myself. The food I'm eating is really fuelling me. I'm sleeping better, have no foggy head and plenty of energy. No afternoon crashes.
Q: What's surprised you most?
I was finding myself intentionally preparing food for the first time in years. Found myself thinking, what nutrients does my body need? Fasting felt like giving my body a rest, not withholding, just laying a foundation for nourishing myself.
It sounds very corny, but I feel like I'm caring for myself for the very first time in my life. And it's tipping over into other areas. Filling my hot water bottle at bedtime, laying my clothes out for the morning. Huge things for me.
Q: Where are you now?
I didn't weigh myself formally at the start, but I've lost about 15kg and my clothes are too big. Most importantly, my tummy is flat and never bloated.
Exercise is something I can't quite make happen just yet. But my diet shift has kind of shown me that I can make big changes if I come at it in the right way, and I feel strongly it's the next step I need to keep this going and grow stronger.
Q: What are you watching out for?
I'm aware this is the point where things have gone wrong for me before. The high of having lost weight and people noticing, the high from restriction, and the precarious position of breaking my rules and the guilt that follows. I'm determined not to let that thinking in.
Q: What would you say to a woman weighing up the injections?
I'm not against GLP-1 medication and I haven't discounted it if this all falls away. But for now my experience is real life evidence that you can either take the drug for the rest of your life, or maintain a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life. The drug isn't necessary if I do the lifestyle right like I've never done it this way before.
Here's the part most women don't know: your body makes its own GLP-1, the same hormone that's in the injections. How you eat and fast directly affects how much you produce. Sarah didn't switch her appetite off with a drug, she got her body making the hormone properly again.
That's what my 6 Week ONLINE GLP-1 Reset is all about. One simple tool each week, alongside a group of women in the same stage of life.
This six weeks gives you the foundation, and it's the part that changes everything.
Starting Wednesday 12th August, 7:30-8:30pm, online.
