Why I'm No Longer Obsessing Over the Scale
“With 50 looming around the corner, I realised that I had to make some changes in my life. Years of endometriosis and adenomyosis had taken a toll on my health and wellbeing, and I had ‘accidentally’ gained 20kg. Having booked an appointment to discuss GLP-1 meds with my doctor, I came across Wick on Facebook at just the right moment."
I was apprehensive about doing it but I decided to go all in. It's the best thing I could've done.
Now 9 kg's down, it's shown me that I am capable of willpower, my body is amazing and capable of more than I realised."
I'd love you to meet Jess L.
Q: Why were you looking for something different?
With 50 looming around the corner, I realised that I had to make some changes in my life. I'd put on 20kg's and I knew I couldn't keep going like this.
Q: What did you decide to try first?
In May, I did Wick's five day reset. I was apprehensive about doing it, but I decided to go all in.
Q: What did that first stretch show you?
It's the best thing I could've done. What it did for me was show me that I am capable of willpower, my body is amazing and capable of more than I realised. And it helped reset my system, ready for a new way of eating.
Q: What changed once you started?
I came through the first few weeks 7kg lighter, and something in my brain had just switched. I didn't even want the processed comfort foods anymore.
I think it's a combo of factors. The reset really worked well for me. I thought it would be really tough, but being able to do that five days really showed me that I have willpower I didn't think I had, and in some ways it just turned off the food noise. It set me up really well to launch into eating for health and wellbeing, and making weight a side issue rather than being obsessed about it all the time.
I was in a spiral of eating rubbish, feeling yuck, beating myself up, starting Monday again.
I don't even want to eat rubbish any more – what I'm eating is making me feel more clearheaded and I'm not hungry. "I feel like a switch has flipped somehow."
Q: What's kept you going since?
Having a group, and Wick's guidance, makes me feel part of something too, and sets me up for success. What I find incredibly beneficial is the wealth of information she's put together in the Wicked Healthy Tribe. There's so much noise out there, which can often be contradictory, and it can be difficult to know where to start. Wick breaks it down in a way that can be understood, and she has all the tools for you to succeed.
Q: Why are you no longer obsessing over the scale?
When I first started, it was all about the weight loss for me. But now I'm looking at it from a health perspective. The weight loss, while necessary and I'm absolutely delighted that I'm 9 kg's down, is now more of a bonus to how I feel, which is clear-headed, energised and so much more confident.
Q: What else are you loving?
My inflammation is gone. I was having real trouble with my feet, like plantar fasciitis pain, and it seems to have gone with the last lot of longer fasts. Oooh and shopping in my own wardrobe for stuff that fits again!
Q: What would you say to a woman weighing up the injections?
I now feel I know what I need to do, and that I have the willpower and desire to do it. And I know I can do it without the expensive meds, and avoid all those nasty side effects. I still have a bit to go but I know that I will get there rather than just “a hope and a prayer”.
If I can do it, you can too. Just trust yourself that your body knows what to do and try anything before going down the injections route – this has definitely worked for me!
As I've mentioned in previous blogs, most women don't know that your body naturally makes its own GLP-1, the same hormone, without the side effects that's in the injections. How you eat and fast directly affects how much you produce. Jessica didn't switch her appetite off with a drug, she gave her body what it needed to do that job itself.
That's what my 6 Week GLP-1 Reset is all about. One simple tool each week, alongside a group of women in the same stage of life.
It's worth doing the maths on this one. Early bird for the Reset is $249 (finishes 2nd Aug, 9.30pm), about half of what a single month of the injections costs, and once you've done the six weeks, it's yours to keep. No script to renew, no side effects, no ongoing monthly charge.
My 6 Week GLP-1 Reset isn't another diet. It's six weeks of retraining your body to make its own GLP-1, the hormone that controls your appetite and your cravings, using food and fasting instead of a needle. Same hormone, just only positive side effects.
